Scrap Tyre Recycling Plant Working Process

Typical Process of a Waste Tire Recycling Production Line

A typical scrap tyre recycling plant processes waste tires through a series of mechanical steps to reduce size and separate steel and fiber, preparing rubber material for different applications.

1. Tire Debeading / Steel Wire Drawing

The steel wire drawing machine is used to remove the thick bead wire from the tire sidewall, reducing wear on downstream shredding equipment.

2. Primary Shredding

Waste tires are fed into a double-shaft tire shredder, where they are shredded into 50–150 mm rubber chips. At this stage, the rubber chips still contain embedded steel wire.

3. Secondary Size Reduction (Rasping)

The rasper reduces the shredded rubber chips into approximately 15–30 mm rubber mulch, further liberating steel wire from the rubber matrix.

4. Magnetic Separation

Overband or drum magnetic separators are used to remove liberated steel wire from the rubber material. Multiple magnetic separation stages can be applied depending on purity requirements.

5. Granulation

The rubber granulator reduces rubber mulch into 1–6 mm rubber granules, while textile fiber is separated through airflow or vibration systems.

6. Grinding (Optional)

For rubber powder production, a tire miller or grinder further processes granules into 20–100 mesh rubber powder, depending on final application requirements.

7. Dust Collection

Dust collectors are installed to remove fine particles and control airborne dust, ensuring a clean and environmentally compliant recycling process.
